Why animals work for color by number — and how Colovia builds them

Animal faces and body outlines give you early landmarks. Patches of fur, feathers, spots and scales then break those familiar shapes into smaller colour decisions, so one portrait can stay readable while a habitat or patterned coat becomes denser.

A clear face lets you establish eyes, ears and the outer silhouette before moving into repeated texture. In a wider wildlife scene, use the contrast between the animal and its background as the first map, then work through the closer colours inside fur or plumage.

Colovia converts the source artwork into numbered vector regions. Each number points to one colour in the picture palette; choosing a different number does not fill the region. The current animals category records 249 to 3,317 regions per picture, so the catalog exposes a concrete structure instead of assigning a vague “easy” or “hard” label.

A picture with one large subject and fewer regions suits a shorter, lower-decision session. More regions, repeated texture and a busy background suit someone who wants sustained close comparison. Colovia saves progress, so neither choice implies a fixed completion time or an invented age promise.
